A friend of mine posted this on my forum about Democrats/Liberals. It is, in my opinion a collection of half truths/stereotypes/assumptions about a wonderful group of people (of whom I am a member) who try to do good, try too much at times and make mistakes, blunders but also triumph and do many good things.
Lists like this are amusing (I chuckled a bit) especially when its aimed at "The Other Guy" LOL, but Heaven Forbid you think its offensive...you will be told that you are too sensitive and being PC is overrated! hahaha This one in particular kind of made me sad. "You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right."
I mean really... only the rich and republican deserve to have access to medical care? No-one deserves to die a preventable death. Unless of course you are The Phoenix on Days or Helena Cassadine on General Hospital. Those rich Republicans can rot in Hell.
I think that things like this just drive a wedge between us deeper, we laugh, we chuckle but a little portion of us might believe all are this radical, all deserve to be dismissed as "tree hugging liberals" and that is simply not true. All of us are onions... we have many layers, each deeper than the last. To trivialize a whole group of people is to your own detriment, once again...in my opinion. To me, these kind of things speak of bitter people...people unwilling or perhaps unable to see another side, to tolerate, to co-exist.
What do you think of the following?
Proposal Below. Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists,Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce.
I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides cannot, and will not ever agree on whatis right, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences, and go our own way.
Here is a model dissolution agreement: Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that it should be relatively easy!
America Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.
You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.
Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military.
You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough tomove them).
We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's, and rednecks.
We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood You can make nice with Iran and and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.
You can have the peaceniks and war protestors. When our allies or way of life are under assault, we'll provide them job security.
We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain.
You can also have the U.N. But we will no longer be paying the bill.
We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.
You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.
We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach theWorld to Sing, Kum Ba Ya, or We Are the World.
We'll practice trickle down economics, and you can give trickle up poverty its best shot.
Since it often so offends you we'll keep our history, our name, and our flag.
Would you agree to this? If so please pass it along to other like minded patriots, and if you do not agree, just hit delete and hang on. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR onwho will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall law student and an American
P.S. Also, we'll throw in Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda.

Obama's infomercial... Did you watch it?
I got the idea for this blog post from
That girl blogs I usually do not post political posts, just because some of my friends and family have very different views, stances and affiliations. I know that there will be people who might have watched it with very different eyes. But regardless of your party of choice, to me there is no denying that Obama (I think McCain too) is sincere. He is sincere in his desire to give us Americans a better way of life, better education, health care and security. You may not agree with his ideas, but to say he is not honestly striving to change the wrongs he feels can be righted I think is just spiteful and wishful thinking. It goes both ways.
But I have to say that I was moved. Moved many times to tears. I saw stories of people, people like me, people that could be speaking my words, living my life and it was at once, reassuring and a bit scary. I don't want people to be like me. To struggle like me, to have to decide not to buy the good meat in order to make ends meet. To grow my own tomatoes not just for the taste factor, but to save a few bucks. I hate being poor, I want a change. I think he has the vision and moxie to attempt it and maybe even achieve it. Ive never felt this way about a candidate before. I am excited to be able to vote in this election.
When Barack Obama said these words:
“I will not be a perfect President, but I can promise you this… I will listen to you when we disagree… and I will open the doors of government, and ask you to be involved again.”
I felt light, I felt hope, I felt inspired to be involved in the issues that my country faces. I want to be a vehicle for change, not a nay sayer, not a cynic, not a bystander. I think if Barack Obama can inspire that feeling in any of us....even if its to oppose what you think are bad ideas that he has for our country... I think that is an admirable achievement.
All I ask is this, if the Democrats win....My fellow Democrats... be involved, be pro-active, hold Obama responsible for his words... remember the feeling of victory and the hope you felt. Carry it with you and make this country better, stronger and help it prosper. If the Republicans win this... give them a chance. Let them try to do the same for us. Because we all care about our great country...we just have different ideas on what is the right thing to do. It doesn't make us right or wrong... just different.
